For Many Generations

For Many Generations is based on Psalm 90:1-2, 16-17: Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. . . . as well as 1 Peter 2:5: You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

With original music by composer Emily Lund, this hymn was named the contest winner for the 200th Anniversary of Pascack Reformed Church in Park Ridge, New Jersey, in 2012.

Your congregation will grow ever more grateful to the Lord of the Church as they sing about his grace through the generations. The hymn works especially well for church anniversary services.

The tune HAVENSONG, with its rhythmic stability and harmonic progression, reflects the strength and joy of dwelling in God’s care for days, years, and generations. Written in standard hymn form, it is meant for four-part congregational singing, with accompaniment on piano, keyboard, or organ. The optional descant is appropriate for a variety of C instruments. The song, we hope, would help you to raise a joyful song to the Lord, our dwelling place.
